The Marnie

Good afternoon!

Here's another of our favorite new displays from the Albuquerque showroom.  It's a transitional  open concept kitchen/living space.  The various textures and neutral tones of the tile create a relaxing environment.  We used a contemporary fireplace with an electric fire over etched glass- it's the hottest thing right now!

The Eleanor Vignette

Guest Blog: Lauren

We just got back from visiting the new showroom in Albuquerque, NM - "The Land of Enchantment."  The showroom looks great and the scenery around the city is beautiful!  We will share more photos of the new displays throughout the next week.

The Eleanor vignette is an elegant marble bathroom that sparkles!  Definitely one of our favorites.

Tile Shop Employee Bath Remodel

Good afternoon!

I wanted to share a photo of a newly remodeled bathroom from Brandon Morrow out in our Ottowa Lake, MI Distribution Center.  He added texture and color to the room with the architectural tile wainscot.  The CUMBERLAND caps off this thick stone perfectly!

Great job, thanks for sharing Brandon!

Here's a look at the CUMBERLAND used vertically in our Austin showroom…..this one isn't quite finished yet, but I think you get the idea….

Have a great day!

Incorporating 2014 Design Trends in Your Home

Guest Blogger: Lauren

Here are some of the 2014 top design trends and how to use them in your home:

Gray is the New Neutral
Painted gray cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom are a big trend this year.  You don't have to stick with one shade of gray, but instead mix up lights and darks to give a room dimension.  A myth about gray is that it feels "cold" and "institutional."  You can avoid a dull gray room by adding pops of color through pillows, accessories, and art to bring warmth and brighten up your space.

Intense Blues As Accents
One of the reasons that intense blues (such as cobalt, sapphire, and lapis) are so popular is that they look great against a gray backdrop!  Blue was reported as one of the most featured colors at the fall High Point Market this year.  An easy way to get this look is to swap out your pillows or bedding.

Geometric Patterns
The Chevron motif seemed to be the jumping off point for a wide range of patterns to gain popularity.  Geometric designs are found in everything these days.  They are used alone or can be mixed with other contrasting or coordinating patterns.  The wide use of geometrics is also affecting tile trends.  A few ways to use this design in your home is by setting tile in a herringbone and by using our mosaics that reflect a geometric pattern.

Unusual Combinations
Breaking the traditional rules of design can add an element of surprise and excitement to your home.  This trend lets you embrace your own style - even if it's a little crazy!  It can be combing colors that usually aren't used together (orange and pink) or by using materials and pattern in an interesting way.  The point is to have fun with it!
